Damian is an experienced CEO and multi-site business operator with more than 25 years across retail, growth, operations, people, strategy and transformation in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
His career has involved full P&L accountability, growing store networks, entering new markets, restructuring businesses, building leadership teams and working directly with owners and boards.
ACTUAL was created to make that level of practical operating experience accessible to ambitious businesses without the layers of a traditional consulting firm.
His strongest instinct is people. Damian has built his career around seeing potential, reading team dynamics and understanding what people are capable of — sometimes before they see it themselves. Equally, he is comfortable recognising when a person, role or structure is no longer right for where the business needs to go.
That combination of commercial judgement and people judgement has been central to leading growth, restructures, culture shifts and significant business change.
He also has a strong instinct for seeing what a business may be missing — gaps, patterns and opportunities that are difficult to recognise when you're immersed in the day-to-day — and turning that insight into a shift in strategy and action.
